Maestro Redentor Romero was hailed by the New York Post as an "excellent conductor". He was the Philippines' first and only international conductor. International soloists who had performed under his baton include Valery Klimov, Malcolm Frager, Janos Starker, Philip Entremont, Gidon Kremer, Vladimir Krainev, Yevgeny Malinin, and Raizza Bobriniova. Maestro Romero graduated from the University of the Philippines and studied further at the San Francisco Conservatory.
My VERY FIRST job was working for his company The National Philharmonic Society as a PR Writer. My main task was to write press releases for upcoming concerts and comprehensive profiles of the classical artists produced by the company, which were to be distributed to media offices.
It was such a short stint that the only piece I remember working on was about Romanian violinist Alexandru Tomescu who came to the Philippines some time in 2000.
