This is going to be my first Christmas as a married woman. Since I got hitched my spending habits have changed dramatically. When Joseph and I were still dating, dining out, going to the spa, and taking out of town trips were our favorite things to do. We always checked the ClicktheCity website for restaurant adventures. We never missed a good movie. And I would always treat Joseph to a facial, foot spa and a good massage.
It’s so amazing how everything turned 180 degrees the moment we shared a bank account. Now, we’ve become less indulgent and more careful in our expenditures. We still have our posh dinner dates but not as often as before anymore.
Joseph has always been the frugal type while I was the impulsive shopper. Now, I can’t even believe it that his prudent ways actually rubbed off on me. I usually have hedonistic Holidays but this year all my shopping money is accounted for.
I made a list of the Twelve Things (in random order) I would want to BUY or better yet RECEIVE this Christmas. I can really afford some of these items but they’re just not that important right now that’s why I’d rather get them as presents. Hehe. I wish Santa was real. I know I have been nice this year so I totally deserve all of these. Hahaha!
My Christmas Wish List...
1) A German brand kitchen knives set & a cute knife holder.
We had two gift registries for our wedding and both of them had set of knives on the list yet no one ever got them for us. Hmph! :-) I guess most people still believe in the "pamahiin" that it's bad luck to give knives as presents. But we really wanted this Henckel kitchen knives set. So we hope to get this set this Christmas. And oh I found this really morbidly funny knife holder on an online store called A+R. Cute ain't it? :-) Maybe I can ask mom to buy it for me.
2) A round bottom stainless steel Chinese wok
I already have a wok but it's quite too large to use for simple everyday small meals. So I'm looking around for a smaller easier-to-handle type just small enough to stir-fry small amounts. My husband and I are also starting to use less of the non-stick kind of cookware so we're building up our stainless steel collection.
3) Gary V's 25th Anniversary album "REBIRTH"
I missed the concert. Darn! The only song I've heard so far from this album is "Father's Love" and that alone is worth buying the CD. I heard him sing it live during his son's birthday celebration on our TV show MP3. The song was a tearjerker! Aylavet!
4) A fashionable antibacterial chopping board
I found this really funky-colored chopping boards at Dimensione and what even caught my attention more was the name of the brand JOSEPH JOSEPH. Hehe. The one on the left is the Joseph Joseph Big Block. It's a high density polyethylene Chopping Board with hygenic cutting surface which is kind to knives. Ideal for chopping and dicing all types of food. It's also heat resistant up to 80°C. And the other kind on the right is the Chop 2 Pot Folding Chopping Boards also by the same brand. It uses the latest technology in polypropylene living hinges. So when the handle is squeezed the Chop 2 Pot folds into a chute to guide chopped ingredients into your bowl or saucepan. Neat, right? :-) Of course this kind of technology matched with a sense of fashion doesn't come cheap. I've been making "pa-cute" to my husband to buy me one since we got married. I hope to find it under my tree, or else! Hahahaha!
5) A simple yet elegant pair of pearl earrings
Pearl earrings are very practical because you can wear them with anything. I lost mine a few months ago so now I am contemplating on investing on a new pair. My friend Muree (+639209247372) is a Jeweler so I might have one of these designs made. Which one is prettier?
6) A Yummy Magazine One Year Subscription for 2009
I'm a Foodie. But these days, I'd rather cook than dine out. I love to cook for my husband and my little Kean. Yummy Magazine has been like my 2nd bible -- next to my real Bible of course. Most of the memorable dishes I've prepared were Yummy Mag recipes. What I love about this magazine is that their recipes are all written and explained well. They actually make cooking easy! Plus their how-to segments are really practical.
7) Asus Notebook Eee PC S101 with Intel Atom
My old HP laptop has conked out a couple of years ago already. I still haven't gotten around to buying a new one since I'm mostly at home anyway. My desktop is just fine. However, I've been meaning to give myself a good treat this Christmas and this might be it. I'm expecting a more mobile writing career next year anyway so this would be a good investment. I'm definitely getting the pink one. :-)
8) A chic bag holder
I think every woman should have one of these. :-) This is a perfect gift idea for any lady! You can buy these from the Happy Babies Multiply Site
9) Kate Torralba's Leg Love Stockings!
I've known Kate from way back when she was just an upcoming designer here in Manila. Now she's become a signature brand! Wow! I'm proud to own some of her really earlier pieces. Some of them were even gifts from her. Hehe. She's really sweet and nice and you can easily see that on her designs. Now she's got this new venture and I can't wait to have mine. I want all of these colors! Will wear them to all the Christmas parties I'm attending. Hehe. Leg Love by KT is now available at all SM department stores.
10) Cuisinart Food Processor
I love making my own homemade pesto sauce and I've been making them with my blender! Hehe. Well, you've got to find ways around your kitchen when the situation calls for it. Again, we had a food processor in our wedding gift registry but no one got us the electric one. We got the manual type instead. So hopefully, I'd have one of these Cuisinart babies in my kitchen soon.
11) Whipped Cream Dispenser
I make my cupcake frosting from scratch but sometimes if I have limited time it would be great to have one of these whipped cream dispenser so that I could just easily top my cuppies with ready-made whipped cream. You wonder why those commercialized cupcakes have really fluffy and tall frosting? Well this gadget does all the magic!
12) Giada de Laurentiis's "Everyday Italian" cookbook
When in doubt, I cook pasta for parties! And it always works! I watch Giada's show and I would really love to try some of her easy Italian recipes. I really wonder though how she keeps herself THAT slim despite the carbo-loading.
So there you have it. I hope my husband, my mom, my family and my good friends can read this. :-) Hehe. Merry Christmas!!! Mwah!
